Easter Scrapbook Centerpiece

Welcome to your April!!!! Its also Friday!!!
Today is the DT Challenge day. This week's challenge was to create outside of the box. To make something that was NOT a card, NOT a layout, NOT album, and NOT a simple paper piecing. I guess "Non Scrap" lol!

I decided to create an Easter table centerpiece =D I am "room mom" for my
son Jayden's class and so I am planning the class Easter party. I thought this would be a cute decoration for the class and then after the party I would present it as a gift for his teacher. Jayden attends a Christian school and so it was neat to incorporate the "reason" for the holiday by adding the Christian Cross with a scripture
This is how I constructed the centerpiece and what was fun is my son Jayden helped me make it using his toy tools =D I found some Styrofoam from packaging that we were going to throw away and used that to poke the craft sticks into...we glued Styrofoam side panels to create a box centerpiece. To glue we used a hot glue gun.

The grass around the centerpiece was cut from the free grass cut file I posted on a previous post yesterday =D

from all your fears
never will you have to shed a tear
i will be there
always to protect you

I will protect you
no matter which road you choose
i will lead you through

I will protect you
from the hate you face

Girls Just Want to Have Fun Container Card Tutorial

The inside of the card reads "Live, Laugh, Love" and "Let the journey begin here"...this container card could be filled with little gifts, candy or any other little gift you want to tuck inside =D Here is how I made it:

First I took 4 sheets of 8.5x11 pink cardstock paper and with either a scor pal or I used the Martha Stewart scoreboard....score lines every 3/4 inch then accordion fold the papers like this:

I then took a decorative edge punch...the one I used was from Martha Stewart...punch one side of each of the four sheets

After you have folded all four sheets then you take a hot glue gun
and glue the bottom fold and the top fold to the corners....creating into a square frame....meshing the folds together like this:

Then embellish =D and I hot glued the bottom of this frame to another
8.5x11 sheet and scored it at the bind and at the flap that hangs over to enclose. I used a Friskers edger punch to make the scallop on the flap.

Altered Project for Design Team

Wood Napkin holder

For my altered project...I purchased the top piece of wood at Joann's craft store and a 3/4 inch dowel wood rod. I purchased the bottom piece of wood at Home Depot and had them cut it to my size. I then used a drill to make the holes for my dowel rods and used ood glue to hold in place. I used tracing paper to make my pattern on the front and then used Delta acrylic paints to paint Trisha's bear design etc. on the front.

I made this as a napkin holder for when we go camping =D our napkins end up flying everywhere and we just put a pile of paper plates on top of them.
Thought this would make a cute solution for them!
