Stacey's Birthday Ribbon and Rhinestones Blog Hop Last Day

Stacey's Birthday Ribbon and Rhinestones Blog Hop

Last Day

I want to thank EVERYONE for all the wonderful comments you have left for me along this hop...I smile HUGE when I read them and I really really appreciate it =D Today is the last day of this hop and I have in store for you a really fun tutorial for making your own party blowers...these are just adorable and you have to give one a whirl =D Here we go!!!

Here is the party blower I created...are these cute or what??
Let's walk through the steps =D

Step one:

Cut a piece of DSP to 2 1/2 x 12 inches.Score lengthwise at 1″ and 2″,  leaving an 1/2 inch flap.

Step two:

Apply sticky strip or thin double sided tape to length of 1/2 inch flap and along bottom edge. It is important to not have any gaps. Fold closed as shown

Step three:

Roll blower around pencil starting from bottom edge.  Tie rubber band or string around the blower and leave for 24 hours so that the shape holds.

Step Four:

Cut a piece of cardstock 2 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch.  Roll into a cylinder and apply sticky tape. Insert the cylinder into the blower opening and wrap seal with tape. It needs to be a tight fit. You can also put ribbon around the tape to conceal it if it shows.

YAY!! We made party blowers =D and now to show you some blog candy I have in store for you...tomorrow I will be selecting a random winner through Random.org for a lucky follower who left comments to win these stickles! Winner will receive THREE bottles of Crystal Stickles

Happy Creating!!

My Son Jayden's Valentine's Class Party

FINALLY got these done after several hours! These are
goodie bags that have a friendship candy necklace that I gave  each child to make and eat. The scallop tag says"Friendship warms the heart" I purchased the cutting file from Silhouette.com My wishblade didn't cut the phrases well enough so I hand to hand cut the outlines **sigh** The red-polka dot scallop circle was punched  with a 3" punch. The blue inner circle cut from a 2.5 circle off of George Basic Shapes cartridge and I used my 2" hand punch for the white inner circle. The polka dot ribbon was purchased from Michael's. The friendship necklace kits I actually found on clearance at Target in a box that contained enough to do 10 necklaces for only 5 dollars!!! =D

Done with the class goodie bags on the right...these are the bingo prizes that each child will get as their prize. I bought the polka dot bags at target for only a dollar for all of them and inside is a small box of cards (Tinkerbell for girls...cars movie for boys) and a lolli pop. I bought the 24 boxes of cards all for only 4.99 at Target =D I made the bag topper on them with red with white stitched ribbon purchased at Michael's, Blue lace heart that is a punch by Martha Stewart purchased again at Michaels and cut the little hearts from the George Basic shape Cricut cartridge. The scallop circle on the front is a 3" scallop circle hand punch. I made the cutting file for the scallop trim candy
bag topper.

This is what I was up late last night doing lol! I couldn't believe
I talked myself into printing out and then cutting and then pasting 22 Valentine Mobile craft projects for the class party but
they turned out so cute!!! I found this free printable
for the mobiles on the canon.com website =D

Jayden is doing his very first Valentine's card list =D

Jayden's Valentines cards for his class...after I had already made like 11 lady bug handmade cards Jayden pouted and said "but mommy I want to give them a treat and also the girls really like hello kitty not ladybugs" sooo...found these hello kitty candy box cards at Target for. Dollar each =D then to make it even more exciting was finding the toy story ones for the boys and the saying is "best friends" rather than "be mine" lol! Jayden signed each one himself =D

Here is the class pictures...we had a blast!

Pirate Theme Boys Party Invitation

So here it is! This is the card I made for my boy's birthday party! The front picture was actually one I found of Tom Sawyer's Island on Google lol! Thanks Google =D then I used my photoshop program to change the name to Ian and Jayden's Island. For the striped red and white paper I found a digital paper pack that was free on line and printed it out. The adhesive ribbon strip on the inside of the card is from K and Company.

My previous post has the wording that I used for the invitation if you would like to take a peak =D

PIRATE PARTY DECORATIONS

Pirate Party Theme @ Meri Meri
The favorite for the kids was the cupcake kit. It's a 48 piece set that has 24 cases (or liners) and 24 assorted toothpick toppers. Kids just love cupcake toppers! Me, I have this thing for streamers and banners. They makes it an official party, so the pirate garland got an Arrr ("I agree or I'm happy") from me.
Shown above: 1. Pirate Party Bags - set of 8 ($9.95); 2. Pirate Ship Table Centerpiece ($15); 3.Pirate Hat Party Set - 12 party invites and 12 thank you notes ($20).

TREASURE BOX FOR YOUR TREASURE HUNT

use this site to print out the wooden planks and the key hole:
The red trim is just tissue paper and the key hole part Velcros shut. Inside I put the kids loot bags for them to find later on. The black bags were purchased at the local craft store and printed off stickers to seal them.

COOL BIRTHDAY BANNER YOU CAN MAKE YOURSELF...VERY EASY IF YOU OWN A CRICUT MACHINE =D

use Mindy Terasawa's Little Treasures digital scrapbook elements.

Go to your local appliance store and ask for a large appliance box. Cut it into the shape of a pirate ship and paint. Place blue plastic in front of it to represent water, so that the kids have to “walk the plank” to board the ship. String black balloons with crossbones above the table for a more festive feel. Here is what we did since I ran out of time getting the appliance boxes to make one...I found a self-inflated pirate ship ring toss game and added blue gossamer to look like water. I made this game as part of the scavenger hunt...which I will go into detail shortly =D

PIRATE PARTY FOOD IDEAS

These are so quick and easy for a pirate party. The kids or the adults will love them and you will love how quickly you can prepare them. Print and cut out the template HERE  on cream parchment paper. Poke toothpicks through the top and the bottom like the sail of a boat. I used them for my deviled eggs:

.

CHOCOLATE MOUSTACHES

These chocolate moustaches are a lot of fun for a pirate party

How to make chocolate moustaches on sticks
You will need:
  • chocolate buds or pieces
  • zip-lock bag
  • baking paper
  • skewers (cut in half) or lollipop sticks
Print out the chocolate moustache template and place a sheet of baking paper over it (or laminate it so you can re-use it). You can check on-line for a mustache chocolate mold. I happened to find one on Ebay.

Put the chocolate in a zip lock bag and melt it in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Cut a small corner off the bag and pipe over the moustache outline with the chocolate, then fill it in with more chocolate. Place the skewer or lollipop stick in the middle of the moustache and pipe a little more chocolate over the stick. To make the appearance of whiskers, use a fork to “brush” the chocolate. Store them in an airtight container.
They also make great party favours - simply place in a cellophane bag and tie with a nice ribbon.

The Ship (aka food table)

Deviled Eggs – Simply add a sail to your egg halves.
Watermelon Boat – Cut the watermelon to resemble a boat. Fill with Cannon balls – melon balls.

Here is mine and it was my first try at watermelon carving lol!

Sword kabobs – Use plastic sword skewers for strawberries, grapes and cheese.

Fishy Sandwiches – Make tuna salad sandwiches and use a cookie cutter to cut them into a fish shape. Add a raisin for the eye.
Underwater Snacks – Spread cream cheese on crackers. Then add fish crackers on the cream cheese
Fish Sticks – These could also double as swords
Macaroni- (golden treasures)
Chicken nuggets with ketsup renamed (“Gold Nuggets with ruby sauce”)
Hot dog octopus: Cut the hot dogs in half lengthwise, keeping an inch intact at the top. Continue cutting lengthwise to create 8 hot dog tentacles.

Grog

Crocodile Blood –
In a large bowl, mix a 32-oz can of pineapple juice, one 12-oz can of orange juice concentrate, one 6-oz can of lemonade concentrate, five cups of cold water, one quart of 7-Up, and a quart of rainbow sherbet. Chill until ready and serve to the gang. Add slices of orange, banana, kiwi, or float cherries in the bowl for an added twist.

THE CAKE

The pirate ship cake (above) is the one I finally picked out and got it at Albertson's grocery store of all places....they did an awesome job on it and it cost me 40 bucks!
