Teacher Appreciation Gift



Teacher Appreciation Gift

I just LOVE going through the 1.00 section at Target that they put right in front of the store. I find the cutest things for crafting and homeschooling in this section. Last week I found these pencil containers there and was so excited! They are too cute! I wrapped them with school papers from MAMBI and used 3D dimensional school stickers. Wrapped it up with raffia and ribbon. I wrote "You are mint to teach" thank you for being my teacher.
Inside the container I put mint candies. The teacher's loved them!!!

Here we are on the last day of the hop =D why do I always feel like pulling out a tissue when a hop is over? lol!! I always feel like it was a great camping trip out with friends and now is over and we have to say goodbye...well for now anyway =D teehee! Well today's project I found inspiration for from get this           **PINTEREST** sshhh I have become such an addict on Pinterest =D haha!! I found many photos like the one below I took of my son Jayden a few weeks ago. You take a picture of them on their first day in front of the school wall and then using photoshop or other photo editing software program and add the font writing of their loves. Such a simple and yet uniquely creative layout to do using a picture.

 For my project I have for you today I have a two page layout I created of my oldest son Jayden he is six years old now and in 1st grade. This layout was his first day at preschool =D I used machine stitching on the pages as an added embellishment. Papers used for this layout was from Me and My Big ideas School paper pack.

Top 10 of Kindergarten Layout

Today is Friday Challenge day for the Little Scraps of Heaven Design Team and the challenge was to make a Graduation project using the school colors. Since I already finished my Grad layout last week I decided to do a layout on my son's Top 10 of Kindergarten. Jayden's favorite #1 of course was recess =D, followed by #2 with meeting his best buddy David, Friday Popcorn days, having mommy as room mom, favorite subject was computer class, loved painting and music class, his teacher, his Car's movie backpack and Wednesdays since it was his turn for Show and tell =D

The paper piecings I used are Little Scraps of Heaven's Grad collection found HERE

Kindergarten Graduation Layout


I was challenged by a friend to create a layout with a piecing of myself and my son Jayden using different patterns and here is what I came up with teehee! I didn't have the Grad pattern set so I worked with the Little Scraps of Heaven's Spellbound Wizards set found HERE and used the gown on Wizard 3 to create both my outfit and Jayden's grad gown. I created my own hair, Jayden's hair and his cap on his grad gown. To make the paper piecing of myself I also used the "Mother to be" pattern found HERE
The Alpha mat frame was cut from my Cricut Cart Geographically Speaking

Altered Gift for Teacher

Last week I sadly missed Teacher Appreciation week with all thats
been going on and the putting our friends who had passed tragically, at rest.
Today I finally finished a little gift for the teacher =D I have a conference this Friday and thought I would give it to her then. I kept these really neat boxes from the Making Memories embellishment collections that I bought that came in these. This black box was from the Spellbound embellishment kit =D
Inside the box has four sections and I added little notes to each section with a little gift. The first one reads "You were mint to teach" and there is "Super Mints" tic tacs....the second reads "You really measure up" and there is a little tape measure tin with mints inside...the third one says " We are really stuck on you" and for this I made cute little band aid candies that I made from a candy mold....the last little box has a note that says "Just a note for the teacher" and the little note reads "The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book" =D

Jayden's First Day of School


Jayden's first day of Kindergarten...I decorated the fireplace mantle in a school theme for him to see when he woke up on his school day. He loved it!!! It was a last minute decision to do this so I just grabbed toys from his playroom to use as decorations and then created the fireplace banner.

Back To School Shopping

Took little Jayden school supply shopping...MY FIRST!!!!! (my baby is going into Kindergarten =) whoohoo! Its great to still have 1st time milestones in my life =D




I was so excited to find this at Toys R US for 16.99...on Jayden's supply list they wanted a 18.5 wide box with lid..huh? WELL..it just so happens that this kit is the dimensions they requested AND it included inside all the items on his list he needed except a little eraser (story about this little thing coming), the pocket folder and the hand sanitizer which we found at Walgreen's =D 


crayola Ultimate art supply kit that came in a plastic box that looks to be 13.5x8.25x4.75 and what's cool is it came with the blunt scissors, 8 count watercolors set, 8 count washable markers, crayons, 12 count color pencils CHECK then went to Walgreens and bought, poly plastic green folder, small plastic school box, hand sanitizer and the 12 pack #2 pencils and that total was 8 bucks...I'm just missing a darn Staedtler eraser lol!


The Story of the Little Eraser
 so I was doing soo great at the savings and the findings taking on the role as 1st time School Supply shopper and THEN.....what HURT....I went to Michaels Craft store AHEM for the little eraser and...and...and...100 bucks later...I couldn't find that little eraser hahahaha! I am blaming Martha Stewart on this....

Poor little Jayden was exhausted after doing his school shopping lol!

Eat Crayons!! Edible Crayons Recipe



Are you always getting after your kids for eating crayons? lol! Here is some crayons that they CAN eat =D How fun is this? It would be such a COOL idea to make a crayon box from your Cricut machine and put these little treats inside and print out  "You Color my World" saying on the front and then place in their lunch box. What a great preschool or  "back to school treat". Have fun!  I found a crayon box template here. I used the 16 count crayon box and it fit four pretzels perfectly. Then I just did some typing in text boxes and adhered them to the front of the box 


Edible Crayons
Ingredients:
*Pretzel Rods
*Candy Melts (or white chocolate bark/chocolate chips with a little of your favorite food coloring added)*Paper Labels (make them yourself or download mine here. Print on colored paper of your choice)
Instructions:
-Break or cut pretzel rods in half.
-Melt candy melts or chocoalte chips in microwave on medium heat for 1 minute. Stir and continue cooking at 15 second intervals until melted. Stir well. Add a few drops food coloring if desired.
-Dip ends of pretzels in melted candy.
-Place on wax paper or aluminum foil to dry.
-When dry, wrap with crayon label and secure with tape


You can buy Candy Melts in white or brown at Wal-Mart. They're in the craft section in the wedding supplies. Wal-Mart also had white chocolate bark in the baking aisle. For colored Candy Melts, check your local cake supply store or you can get them athttp://www.sugarcraft.com/. On sugarcraft.com, do a search for "compound coating". To color melted white chocolate chips or chocolate bark, oil-based candy food coloring is best. If you have regular food coloring, just make sure the chocolate isn't too hot (just warm) when you add it or it might make it clumpy.
