Chinese New Year Blog Hop January 22nd-23rd



Year of the Dragon

To celebrate his culture, we want to share some Chinese-inspired projects with you! If you arrived here from Maria's Blog then you are in the right place! For my last project to share with you on this hop is a card =D
I made the lantern paper piecing by taking a circle punch and cutting the yellow/Gold cardstock into strips. I highlighted the edges using a Copic marker and then arranged the strips on a black strip of cardstock paper.

Chinese New Year Blog Hop January 22-23, 2012

For my project, I created a "Red Envelope"

It is custom for elders to give a gift of money to a child for New Year's in a red envelope. By doing so it is to bring you and the child good luck, prosperity and happiness. The color red is a symbol of happiness. Traditional red envelopes are often decorated with gold Chinese characters like happiness and wealth. There is a custom way to give and receive this red envelope as well. When giving someone a red envelope, use both hands to present the red envelope to the recipient. The red envelope is also received with both hands.The recipient of a red envelope at Chinese New Year or on his or her birthday should not open it in front of the giver. This is for respect.

Card Recipe:
I used paper from Reminisce
Jesse James flower blings
Snowman and the sentiment are from Scrappingbug
I used Doodlebugs sugar coating white glitter on the snowman
white pom pom for the hat
Black Diamond Stickles glitter glue to make the face on snowman
2 inch scallop circle punch for the sentiment

Sketch Blog Hop




The gray on the right side is meant to be some sort of interesting feature; punched, scalloped, ribbon, something.... The ovals can be any sort of feature or embellishment and to have a diagonal line somewhere like ribbon =D Here is my take on the sketch:

Teapot Card for Mother's Day



Little Scraps of Heaven Design Team member Dawn challenged us to create a monochromatic project this week so I made a teapot card using the Magnolia flower that is in the past freebie section for 1.00 over at Little Scraps of Heaven and you can view it HERE

For the teapot card I purchased a cut file over at Creations by AR and you can take a look 
right HERE

For the Scallop Circle I used a 3 inch scallop punch and then a 2 inch circle punch by Friskars

Girls Just Want to Have Fun Container Card Tutorial




The inside of the card reads "Live, Laugh, Love" and "Let the journey begin here"...this container card could be filled with little gifts, candy or any other little gift you want to tuck inside =D Here is how I made it:

First I took 4 sheets of 8.5x11 pink cardstock paper and with either a scor pal or I used the Martha Stewart scoreboard....score lines every 3/4 inch then accordion fold the papers like this:



I then took a decorative edge punch...the one I used was from Martha Stewart...punch one side of each of the four sheets 



 After you have folded all four sheets then you take a hot glue gun
and glue the bottom fold and the top fold to the corners....creating into a square frame....meshing the folds together like this:



Then embellish =D and I hot glued the bottom of this frame to another
8.5x11 sheet and scored it at the bind and at the flap that hangs over to enclose. I used a Friskers edger punch to make the scallop on the flap.

The spinner wheels and wrench and the gear frame was done with my Cricut creating my own cutting files
Ribbons used: Bobunny and the hugs and kisses xoxo printed black and white ribbon purchased on etsy

of Belle and then made my own dress for her.
The wings I created a cut file for that I will
share in another post later today.

Valentine's Card Love Bug Challenge


Here is another "Love Bug" Valentines card =D this one I made for 
the Love Bug challenge over at the Creative Cutter Room check

Valetine's Love Bugs Card


Ok so I had a goal of doing 3 scrapbook layouts
today and well I kept getting ready to get
ready and I just ended up with one card lol!

It was more fun today "making a memory" with
my boys and having an blast making things with them today...
than actually "creating a memory"
